Day 12. Tue 22 Sept: Flinders Ranges Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
This morning we begin exploring the scenic Flinders Ranges with our very own local guide on board. We travel along the Blinman road pausing at the famous Cazneaux Tree, which is a must take snap for all those keen photographers. Renowned photographer, Mr Harold Cazneaux, photographed this tree in 1937. The photograph, titled “The Spirit of Endurance” won international recognition. We also stop at Stokes Hill Lookout, which provides an expansive panoramic view of the surrounding landscape including Wilpena Pounds eastern escarpment. Another feature of the lookout is a cast model of Wilpena Pound. It features the main landmarks and the shape and size of this unique formation. The spectacular Brachina Gorge was once used as a pass through which bullock teams pulled their loads but is now a favourite spot for walkers and campers. The drive down into the valley offers spectacular views south of the Pound Range and the area along the Bunyeroo Creek is a favourite location for kangaroos and emus. We arrive back at Wilpena mid-afternoon and enjoy time to relax or take in a scenic flight at own cost. We continue out to the stunning Pugilist Gorge for sunset and drinks before dinner.

Day 13. Wed 23 Sept: Flinders Ranges - Broken Hill Breakfast & Dinner
This morning we depart the Flinders Ranges and travel south through Hawker where we stop at the Morgan Gallery to view the magnificent giant Wilpena Pound Panorama by Jeff Morgan. We continue further south to the historic railway township of Peterborough enjoying an intriguing stop at Meldonfield. This miniature world of yesteryear in Petersburg (Peterborough) has been lovingly created by Eldon & Mary Zimmermann. These scale miniatures reflect the true pioneers of the bush and include much of the horse drawn transport of a previous era. The miniature horse drawn vehicles are individually hand crafted by Eldon & Mary to the style that the wheelwrights and coach builders used in the 1800s. A scale model of the original Petersburg Railway Station circa 1885 was disposed of in 1960. It is now under construction using the original stone and bricks from remains found in the creek bed north west of Peterborough. We enjoy some free time to purchase lunch. We leave Peterborough and travel up to Broken Hill, enjoying a comfort stop before arriving in the Silver City. After check-in we make our way to The Living Desert and International Sculpture Site to view the huge carved monoliths and enjoy a magical outback sunset (weather permitting) before dinner at our accommodation.
