THROUGH THE HILLS
Our holiday into the Central West begins as we follow the explorer’s track across the Blue Mountains (Great Western Highway).
Our first stop this morning will be to visit the
Lithgow Small Arms factory complex. After a cuppa we discover the background behind the development of this complex through to its revitalisation as a manufacturer of small electrical appliances following the second world war.

Before departing Lithgow we have lunch at the
Lithgow Workers Club, then we commence the drive along the Castlereagh Highway towards Mudgee, one of the oldest towns west of the Blue Mountains.
However, before arriving in Mudgee we have the opportunity for our first sampling of the products from the Cudgegong Valley when we visit “
The Tasting House” where cocktails and sodas are made using fresh local products.
Finally to our motel where we settle in for the next four nights.

This afternoon we get serious about products of the region when we visit three different facilities. Firstly, to
Moothi Estates, our visit here also includes a light lunch. Next on our itinerary is another well-known locally winery. At Pieter van Gent’s we have the chance to sample not only his wines but also his WHITE PORT. Finally, on our way back into Mudgee we pause at Baker Williams Distillery where we can sample their products which include Gin, Whisky and Schnapps Liqueurs.

There’s GOLD in them thar hills
This morning we set off to explore the “Town on the (original) Ten Dollar Note”.
In its heyday Gulgong was referred to as the “Centre of the World.” Gulgong is full of history and historic buildings there is so much to see in this quaint little township. After our town tour we have a cuppa.  We then enter into the past as we wander through the complex that is the Gulgong
Pioneer's Museum. Lunch today is at a country pub in the centre of town.
