NURSES' MUSEUM
PRINCE HENRY HOSPITAL - THE COAST HOSPITAL
Friday 16th August 2019
This morning we venture toward the city, coming out of the Airport Tunnel we drive along the shore-line of Botany Bay to the site of the old Prince Henry Hospital at Little Bay.
After morning tea, provided by the staff, we explore the museum with our guides, (who were all previous members of the nursing profession). The Nurses Museum was created when the hospital closed in 2001 and the then Premier, Bob Carr, (who was also the local member) dedicated a portion of the old hospital complex as a Nurses’ Memorial.
You are also welcome to visit the Nurses War Memorial Chapel, which is a small but important portion of the complex.
Less than 30 minutes up the road is Souths Juniors, our chosen venue for lunch today.
A short scenic coastal drive before we re-join the “bun” fight that is Sydney Traffic and the journey home.
