Day 11. Wed 14 Sept: Roma - Narrabri Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Following breakfast and check out we begin the drive south which takes us back down into New South Wales via St George for our morning tea and comfort stop and then at Thallon home to William Giant Northern Hairy-Nosed Wombat and the towering grain silo’s featuring the spectacular “Watering Hole” mural painted in July 2017. Enjoy the magnificent artwork from the viewing platform before heading down towards the Queensland/New South Wales township of Mungindi for our lunch stop at the Two Mile Hotel. It is a simple fact that Mungindi is unique! Straddling the Barwon River, Mungindi is called by one name but located in two states and is the only border town in the Southern Hemisphere sharing the same name in both states. Mungindi’s CBD is located in NSW, but uniquely there are two Police stations, one in each state. The Schools, with the exception of the Community Pre-School, are in NSW while the Hospital is situated on the Queensland side. It may sound confusing but life in this fabulous little town is simplicity itself. In Moree we stop in at the BAMM, Bank Art Museum Moree situated inside the magnificent 1911 Edwardian-style building, the previous home of the Commercial Banking Co. of Sydney. From Moree it’s a little over an hours drive down into Narrabri for our overnight stop and dinner.
